Depicts the Rosenlaui glacier, the Wellhorn and the bridge over the Rychenbach rapids in the beautiful valley of Rosenlaui, Bernese Oberland. Painted on-site in 2 sessions and a 3rd studio session. Palette: Blue-black, Cobalt, Pthalo and Ultramarine blues, Viridian, B.Umber, Orange,  Cd.Lemon Yellow,  a touch of Cd,Red/Perm.Alizarine Cr. plus Zn and Tit.White. I have found by trial and mostly error that Pthalo Blue gives the truest Blue of the Alpine Sky, altho cobalt and ultramarine are in there too, In lower altitudes cerulean blue appears. Just after blocking in, a cow 50 m away, with a bell around its neck trotted noisily straight for me. As I was perched on the edge of the river I had no choice but to defend my set-up by standing in her way. She halted and began to sniff my rucksack and then me. I guess she was an art lover! As she became more inquisitive I flailed my arms and shouted at her to go! which she did!!!!
